Barros continues in doubles
Making her second WTA 250 main-draw appearance, Barros said she initially struggled to feel comfortable but gradually loosened up. Her opponent was a familiar face: Barros and Kostovic had played junior doubles together for roughly a year and a half. After the match, the winner encouraged the crowd to applaud the Brazilian.
Barros remains in the doubles draw alongside Nauhany Silva. The Brazilians will face Rasheeda McAdoo and Alexandra Osborne in their opener. Kostovic's next singles opponent will be Darja Semenistaja.
Rain pushes matches into Wednesday
Play was interrupted in the afternoon. Gabriela Ce and Eva Lys were level at 2-2 in the deciding set, after the German took the opener 6-1 and the Brazilian won the second 7-5. Their match remained unfinished.
