Zheng Qinwen won her first WTA 1000 title on Sunday, October 11, 2026, defeating Mirra Andreeva 7–5, 6–4 in the Beijing final. The victory made her the first Chinese woman to lift the China Open singles trophy.

Three set points saved

The opening set nearly slipped away. Zheng saved three set points to reach 5–5, then took control of the score and sealed the set with an ace. In the second set, the decisive break came in the ninth game. Serving for the title at 5–4, she finished with another ace on her first match point.

The final in numbers

The official WTA statistics panel recorded 24 winners for Zheng and 16 for Andreeva. The champion converted four of eight break-point opportunities and saved four of the six she faced. She won 58% of all points played.

Second-serve points also help explain the outcome: Zheng won 23 of 36, shown as 64% on the official panel, while Andreeva won ten of 22, or 45%. Zheng did not lead every statistical category, but she did a better job of protecting these points.

Back among the winners at home

The 24-year-old entered the tournament as a wildcard, ranked No. 54. Beijing is her sixth career WTA tour title and her first since Tokyo in 2024. According to the WTA, she also became the event's first wildcard champion since its return in 2004.
