The tournament's announcement on Monday, September 14 puts the Italian on course to pursue a third Vienna title, following his victories in 2023 and 2025. The indoor hard-court ATP 500 takes place at the Wiener Stadthalle, with an event programme running from October 24 to November 1.
The confirmation comes during a spell away from competition for the world No. 1. According to the ATP, Sinner has not played a match since winning Wimbledon in July and missed the US Open with a right knee injury. At 25, he has collected six titles this season: the year's first five Masters 1000 events and Wimbledon.
His Vienna title defence brings back memories of a hard-fought comeback. In the October 26, 2025 final, Sinner rallied past Alexander Zverev 3-6, 6-3, 7-5. He secured the decisive break for a 6-5 lead in the final set, then served out the match to lift the trophy.
