Andrey Rublev earned his 400th tour-level singles victory on Monday, September 28, by defeating Kyrian Jacquet in the ATP 250 Hangzhou semifinals. The second seed won 7–6(0), 6–1 in one hour and 21 minutes to secure his place in the final.
According to the ATP figures published after the match, Rublev finished the semifinal with a career record of 400 wins and 226 losses. At 28, he stood ninth among active players for tour-level victories.
A close start, then a clear lead
The opening set came down to a tie-break, which Rublev won without dropping a point. He then moved 5–0 ahead in the second set before completing a comfortable finish. Jacquet's run ended at his first ATP Tour semifinal.
That progress contrasted with Rublev's quarterfinal on Sunday. Against Hugo Gaston, he had lost the opening set before recovering to win 6–7(6), 7–6(4), 6–1. Against Jacquet, he settled the match without needing a deciding set.
Medvedev reaches a milestone too
In the other semifinal, Daniil Medvedev defeated Roman Safiullin 7–5, 6–4 in one hour and 42 minutes. It was his 350th tour-level hard-court victory, according to the same ATP report.
Medvedev had needed three sets to get past Coleman Wong in the quarterfinals. On Monday, he secured a decisive break in each set against Safiullin and completed a straight-sets win.
The results brought the tournament's top two seeds together in the Hangzhou final. Both had arrived with titles already won this season: Rublev had lifted the trophy in Bastad, while Medvedev had won Brisbane and Dubai.
