Alejandro Davidovich Fokina won the Chengdu ATP 250 title on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, defeating Hubert Hurkacz 6–4, 7–6(7). The Spaniard completed the final in one hour and 46 minutes to claim his second tour-level title, following his breakthrough in Mallorca in June.

Four set points saved

The second-set tie-break put the title in the balance: Hurkacz led 6–3, but Davidovich Fokina recovered and saved four chances for the Pole to force a deciding set. By taking six of the final seven points, he closed out the tie-break 9–7. The 7 in parentheses in the score denotes Hurkacz's tie-break points.

The title came on Davidovich Fokina's return to ATP Tour competition: his previous appearance had been in Umag in July. It also continued a change in his fortunes in championship matches, after losing five finals before earning his first trophy.

Comebacks on the road to the final

In Monday's semi-final, Davidovich Fokina came from a set down to beat Nikoloz Basilashvili 4–6, 6–4, 6–3. The Spaniard had not dropped a set during the tournament before that encounter.

Hurkacz also reached the final with a comeback. He defeated Denis Shapovalov 6–7(8), 6–3, 6–3, saving all three break points he faced in their semi-final. Chengdu was his first tour-level final since Geneva in 2025.
