Carlos Alcaraz beat Jaume Munar 5–7, 6–3, 6–1 on Monday, October 5, 2026, to return to the Tokyo ATP 500 final. The defending champion will face Jiri Lehecka on Tuesday after recovering from a run of 16 lost points in his semifinal.
A slump followed by a response
Alcaraz led the first set 5–3 but could not close it out. Munar won the final 14 points of the set and the first two of the next. Back-to-back double faults from the top seed ended the opening set.
The recovery began in the opening game of the second set, when Alcaraz broke his countryman's serve. He gradually played more aggressively and found room to take charge of the rallies. After levelling the match, he completed the comeback with a 6–1 deciding set.
The result extends his unbeaten run at the event to nine matches, including his 2025 title campaign. This will be his fourth tour-level final of the season and his first since Monte-Carlo in April.
Lehecka advances behind strong serving
In the other semifinal, Lehecka defeated Valentin Vacherot 6–4, 6–2 in 68 minutes. According to the statistics cited by the ATP, the Czech won 36 of the 40 points played on his serve.
Alcaraz leads their head-to-head 3–1. Lehecka won their 2025 Doha quarterfinal, before the Spaniard took the next two meetings, in the Queen's final and the US Open quarterfinals that year. This will be their second final against each other.
